Established in 1885 Arizona State University was originally founded as a teachers college on the 21 acre site of a former cow pasture. Today ASU is spread across four campuses with the main one in Tempe, a polytechnic campus in Mesa and two in Phoenix – one in downtown and one in West Phoenix. Granted research status by the Carnegie Foundation in 1994 it now offers programs in social and natural sciences, the humanities and visual and performing arts.

With over 67,000 students today from all over the globe, it is a leading university with disciplines in business, law, environmental design, architecture and technology. Each of its four separate campuses offers different focuses but with the same goal of obtaining an education that readily prepares the students to meet the challenges of the real world of today. With over 250 undergraduate programs and majors there is definitely something for everyone at ASU.

With seven colleges on this campus your choices include: applied sciences encompassing psychology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, exercise and wellness, nutrition and social and behavioral sciences; school of educational innovation and teacher preparation; graduate degree and dual degree programs, master’s and diversity programs; Barrett – The Honors College supports outstanding honors students in research projects; programs devoted to agribusiness and management; programs devoted to technology and innovation; and letters and sciences.

This campus has eight colleges comprised of: Barrett – The Honors College supports outstanding honors students in research projects; graduate degree and dual degree programs, Master’s and diversity programs; letters and sciences; Journalism and mass communications; nursing and health care innovation; teacher education and leadership; and public programs such as criminology and criminal justice.

West Campus

Phoenix West Campus

This is the smallest campus with only five colleges located here that offers: Barrett – The Honors College supports outstanding honors students in research projects; graduate degree and dual degree programs, Master’s and diversity programs; elementary, secondary and special education programs; humanities, arts and cultural studies, mathematical and natural sciences and social and behavioral sciences; business school including economics, accounting, finance and health management; school of criminology and criminal justice.

Besides the four campuses that offer a variety of programs to students, you can also enroll online to earn a Bachelor’s Degree and/or a Master’s Degree in most all of the disciplines offered at ASU. With programs offered year round so that you can fit the curriculum into your schedule this is a popular way to earn your degree at a recognized university. ASU has also earned a reputation as a research university offering diverse programs with support from government grants and partnerships with corporations and other agencies in the community to further their research projects and support and promote innovation in multiple fields of study.
