When living or visiting in Tempe, Arizona you will want to enjoy the benefits of its nightlife that offers more than its share of fun filled places to go with something to suit everyone’s taste. As a college town Tempe has lots of bars and restaurants that is attractive to students but it also offers other places to go for those who want more than a place to meet their friends for a drink.
The Mill Avenue district is one of Tempe’s star attractions with its red brick sidewalks and turn of the century buildings making it a charming welcome to anyone who visits. With restaurants, lots of bars plus shopping you can find plenty of places to enjoy your time on the town. With entertainment that includes jazz, swing or country you can dance the night away at a club or just cheer on your favorite team at a local pub.
The Sail Inn Bar and Grill features live music daily along with Happy Hour specials while the Mill Cue Club gives you a great place to shoot some pool and enjoy daily Happy Hours as well. Barney’s Boathouse offers a beach casual atmosphere with drink specials daily and grilled burgers outside on the patio.
The Vintage Lounge opened recently offering a more upscale environment for dancing and drinks serving tapas plates and a nice décor. With special shows nightly the Cherry Lounge & Pit offers burlesque and other scandalous fun for those who are looking for more adult entertainment where you can reserve a table or get VIP bottle service. With Go-Go dancers and specialty drinks along with VIP bottle service the Whip Lounge is another hot spot on Mill Avenue.
Offering what they call “drinks with altitude” the Suite 301 Lounge is open Wednesday to Saturdays and provides a modern décor with dancing and flat screen TVs and drinks from $1 to $3 on Thursdays. Known for their spectacularly endowed servers Hooters offers its own kind of appeal with special events on a regular basis as well as nightly fun.
The Big Bang Dueling Pianos offer a different type of entertainment and one that everyone – young and old – can enjoy because it provides interactive participation from the audience with a pair of high energy pianists who encourage fun with comedy and music in combination with the audience to produce a great evening out. Offering a great venue for a birthday or bachelor party or any celebration this place will make you leave your inhibitions at home for the evening!
For those looking for a little less raucous entertainment Tempe also has a Center for the Arts with two theaters and a gallery where plays and other special events are held. The MADCAP Theaters is being refurbished to provide live music, dance and theater performances as well as independent film screenings. On Thursdays from 5 pm to 9 pm Mill Avenue is the scene of musicians performing along the street with donation paint cans encouraging the public to support the local arts of these up and coming musicians!
All of the establishments on Mill Avenue accept what they call MAD money which is gift certificates that can be purchased and used at any of the businesses, restaurants, bars and shops in this thriving area that encourages people to shop, eat and drink locally!
